corporate yoga

A large study into mental health in corporate Australia (2018) showed that almost a third of the workforce suffers from some sort of mental illness, which was an increase from 1 in 5 in 2007. Of those, 36% suffers from depression, 33% from anxiety and 31% from stress. The negative impact this has on individuals also impacts their employer, resulting in sick leave, and underperformance. Employee wellbeing is therefore becoming more important for employers.

Yoga combines physical exercise with breathing techniques and meditation practices. The physical aspect of it is greatly beneficial to combat the negative effects of sitting behind a desk all day. The breathing and meditation techniques are very beneficial for improving your mental flexibility.

Yoga can help to reduce stress, relieve anxiety, reduce inflammation, improve heart health, combat depression, reduce chronic pain, promote the quality of sleep, improve flexibility and balance, improve breathing, relieve migraines, promote healthy eating habits and increase strength.

Providing yoga as part of a broader employee wellbeing program is a great way to offer your employees a tool to release stress, tension and fatigue from their body & mind. This can greatly help them in reducing the symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress.
